REVIEW OF PAKISTANI SERIAL "DIL-E-MUZTAR"
Dil e Muztar is a 2013 Pakistani drama serial based on the love triangle story
between Sila, Adeel, and Zoya.The serial was well received by the audience and
was lauded for the lead performances. Serial is broadcasting on Hum TV, first aired on 23 February 2013. It is directed by Shahzad
Kashmiri and written by Aliya Bukhari, casting Imran Abbas Naqvi, Sanam Jung and Sarwat Gilani in leading roles.
PLOT
Sila who lives with her
father and step-mother loves her cousin Adeel a lot. Adeel's mother works in
sila's house and Adeel works in a company but also works for sila's parents.
Sila is very close to her aunt (Adeel's mother) which is disliked by her
parents. Sila's mother plans to get her to marry her nephew which is rejected
by Sila for she loves Adeel. Eventually, she runs away from her house when her
parents try to force her into a marriage. Adeel, who does not have any type of
feelings for Sila, is blamed for this. He takes Sila back home, trying to prove
his innocence. Sila's father plans to get Sila married to Adeel the very next
day, fearing the dishonor her acts could cause him. Adeel is forced to marry
Sila and accepts due to his mother's content nagging. Adeel is shattered due to
his mothers demise the day after his marriage.
Adeel and Sila move out
after this and start a new life. Adeel treats Sila very rudely, and behaves
extremely cold towards her while on the other hand, Sila settles sweetly in her
new house. With time, Adeel softens towards Sila due to her endless patience
and understanding love. Sila's father shifts to canada which in turn, weakens
Sila causing her to collapse due to severe depression. Adeel regrets his
previous behaviour towards her and starts caring for her a lot before
confessing his hidden love to a sleeping Sila in the hospital; saying :
"I've always loved you Sila, you're my whole world. I love you more than
you can ever imagine, much more than your love for me", while Sila had
secretly heard his every word of confession. Their life changes from here,
Adeel starts caring and loving Sila. A friendly neighbor, Zoya, soon enters
their life. Life is truly beautiful for Adeel and Sila, Adeel is in ninth cloud
with the news of Sila's pregnancy; they are soon blessed with a baby boy named
Affan.
Adeel loses his job due to
down-sizing and struggles for another job. The situation worsens when Adeel
turns bitter due to the constant job-hunt. Affan falls sick and Ahmer offers to
help Sila out. Sila takes up the job in Ahmer's company to help Adeel - this
hurts Adeel's ego and Zoya uses it to create misunderstandings between Adeel
and Sila. Sila tries hard to sort the issues between her and her husband but
Adeel, who considers Zoya a good friend, does not believe Sila. Affan's death
shatters Sila who blames Adeel for her kid's death and leaves Adeel's house.
Meanwhile, Zoya is making
the most of this opportunity to corner Adeel and get him to marry her. Although
Adeel wants to be left on his own, Zoya carries on visiting him. Adeel
overhears Zoya's wish to marry him, as she discusses that overtly with her
mother. Adeel responds to this by later proposing to Zoya. Meanwhile, Sila is
back at her parents' house, living with her mother and is ready to accept and
inherit her late father's wealth. Sila gives birth to a baby (of Adeel), and
she names him Afaan. Sila decides not to tell her only child about his real
father.
Five years later, Sila is
now successfully in charge of her late father's business and is expanding her
business with the help of family friends, Nabeela, Sami and Ahmer, as well as
the support of her mother. On the other hand, Adeel and Zoya are living through
a rocky relationship with no children due to Zoya's fertility issues. When
Adeel's company acquires new management, he and Zoya, as well as other staff
couples, are invited to an evening dinner to meet the new management team. The
new managers are Sila and Ahmer. Upon seeing and discovering this, Adeel and
Zoya are left in total shock.
Nabila and Sami were
initially Adeel's friends but upon hearing what he had done to Sila, they
turned their backs on him. Adeel goes to their house to defend himself. He says
that, "Sila left the house herself. I didn't tell her to leave. Affan's death
was just an excuse to leave, she wanted to leave before. She wanted to go with
that Ahmer. But one thing is true, I still love her. She never left my mind,
even for a second." Meanwhile, Sila is listening to all of this by hearing
through the window. She leaves in tears before Nabila insults Adeel and tells
him to leave her house and never show his face, again.
Zoya and her mother make a
plan to ask Adeel to bring Sila back, so that he and Zoya can get money and
become rich. But, Adeel refuses firmly. Adeel and Sila constantly meet by
co-incidence, in malls, in elevators. Adeel goes to her office, in her company
and even though, Sila tells him to leave, he doesn't. He says what he said to
Sami the other day, but he also says something else, "I never loved Zoya,
I still love you. Why did you leave me and go with that Ahmer?". Sila
screams at him to get out and reluctantly, Adeel goes.
Adeel gets very upset and
all he can think about is Sila. He says her name in his sleep, the whole night.
Zoya gets very angry because of that and goes to Sila's office and insults her.
Zoya says that Sila never loved Adeel and now Sila is all alone and missing
Adeel which is why she's trying to steal him. But, Sila replies that she is not
alone, she has something Zoya can't even hope for (Afaan). After this incident,
Sila fires Adeel. Adeel goes to the office to talk to Sila. There he sees Sila
with Afaan. He gets really mad and thinks that Afaan is Ahmer's child. He goes
to Sila's house and insults her by saying that he didn't know that she could go
as far as having a relationship with Ahmer and having his child. Sila confesses
the truth by saying, "Afaan is not Ahmer's child! Afaan is my child! and
by bad luck, he's yours too! Everybody knows that! But you, you couldn't even
recognize your own child!". Adeel is left shocked upon hearing this and
Sila asks him to leave. Sila's mom asks Ahmer to get the divorce papers so Sila
can move on, forget about Adeel and start a new life (with Ahmer) and Sila
agrees to sign the papers.
Then, Adeel walks in front
of Sila's car at street while she's driving, almost causing her to run him over
and makes her stop. Sila asks him why does he keeps on coming in her way and
why can't he just leave. Adeels says that he will not only leave her way, but
he will even leave the city, if she gives him Afaan. Sila asks him why is he
making a scene in the middle of a road. Adeel says that it's not a scene and
that she is his wife. But Sila denies, saying that there is no relationship
between them, that relationship ended the day she left his house. Adeel
exclaims that it was her own decision to leave the house but Sila replies that
there was nothing left for her in that house, not her child and not her
husband. Adeel tells her that he still loves her but Sila says that she hates
him. Ahmer comes between them and tells them to talk about their problems at a
private place, not in the middle of the road. Adeel says that he knows that
Sila has decided to start a new life and he says that he's going to take Afaan
away from her. Adeel tells Zoya about his child and says that Sila can't take
his child away from him.
He goes to a lawyer but the
lawyer tells him that it's really difficult because Afaan is a small child and
that Adeel hasn't kept any contact with his wife for the past 5 years. He
didn't give her any money and that he even got married for the second time. The
only way to get Afaan back is to proof that Sila is a bad woman. Adeel leaves.
He goes to Sammy and tells her that he has lost the battle without fighting
because he can't accuse someone he really loves of cheating and that the sad
thing is that none of them could understand. "In her eyes, I'm the worst
person and in my eyes she is guilty.", he says. But he wants to see Afaan
just once and asks Sammy to talk with Sila. He promises that he will leave the
city afterwards, forever. Sammy refuses and tells Adeel that he should do that
himself. Adeel comes to see Sila at her house and tells her that he wants to
talk. Sila tells him that he has already said a lot that day in the middle of
the road, and asks how much more does he wants to hurt her. Adeel says that he
never meant to hurt her and that God knows, that was never his intention. But
he was the reason for all her pain. And now, he can't even face himself, but he
wants to apologize to her for all the pain in her life. But Sila says that his
apologies won't make any difference because they can't bring the time when she
lost everything back or change it and that Adeel can't even imagine what she's
been through. Adeel says that he knows he's not worth it to be forgiven but
that every moment without her was a punishment for him, he really loves her and
only her. Sila replies by saying that that's why he got married to Zoya that
fast and gave her the place where she belonged, nowhere. Adeel confesses that
marrying Zoya was his worst mistake and that He couldn't understand her and
when he did, it was too late. Sila asks him to stop it, if he's saying this to
meet Afaan because she had thought a lot, and decided that he can meet him
because she can't keep Afaan away from his dad's love. Adeel says that he
doesn't only want Afaan in his life but he wants Sila to come back too and that
they start all over again, together. Sila reminds him that that he's married to
Zoya and admits that she doesn't want to take him away from Zoya because she's
not like her, and she doesn't want to be like her, either. She can't commit the
sin of destroying someone's house. Adeel says that his house never became a
home after she left but she only asks him to stay loyal to Zoya. That's his
punishment; She says that she never asked him anything in their life and this
is her first and last wish.
Adeel's love for Sila has
only grown after this, along with his hate for Zoya. He tells Zoya how horrible
of a person she is and how good Sila is and that he never loved her but Sila
has bound him in this relationship with her forever. And that they will live
together as strangers. Zoya thinks about everything she've done that night,
getting flashbacks about how she made Afaan sick and how she took Adeel away
from Sila. She cries and realizes her mistake. The next day, she asks Adeel to
divorce her. Meanwhile, Ahmer has also prepared the divorce papers for Sila and
Adeel's separation. Sila tries a lot but she can't sign the papers. Sila
apologizes and says that she knows that she has hurt Ahmer a lot. But he says
that she didn't, he just wishes he could bring her happiness back.
Meanwhile Zoya visits Sila
and apologizes to her. Zoya confesses that it was her who created a rift
between Sila and Adeel. But despite her efforts she wasn’t able to make Adeel
forget about Sila, neither was she (Zoya) been able to win over Adeel because
Adeel still loves Sila. Zoya’s love has always been one-sided which was never
acknowledged by Adeel. So she (Zoya) has now divorced Adeel and set him free.
Zoya falls on Sila’s feet and begs for forgiveness. She says she has terribly
wronged both Sila and Adeel and she can’t turn back the time. It is not
apparent whether Sila forgives Zoya or not.
Ahmer, Sila and Afaan are
sitting in a car As Ahmer takes them to an unknown destination. Which is
revealed to be a park. Sila wonders why are they here and Ahmer her that this
is her destiny and commands her to turn around. Adeel is standing there.. Ahmer
tells Sila to go to him. Sila steps slowly in his direction while they look at
each other without saying anything. As Sila walks towards Adeel, the Title song
(Dil-e-Muztar by Alycia Dias) is played in the background, with montage
flashback of their past memories together. Ahmer tells Afaan to go to his
parents and then leaves them alone. Adeel hugs Afaan and the three of them
leave on Adeel's bike.

CONCLUSION
After watching the serial, you will love the character of Sanam Jung as
Sila and Ajjaz Aslam as Ahmer. He was with Sanam Jung till the end. He truly
loved Sanam and ready to accept her son. He gave her job and helped whenever
she was in need. Although, Imran Abbas Naqvi as Adeel loved Sanam, he later betrays
her after their son death and married with Sarwat Gilani as Zoya. But he never
remains happy with her. Audience really hates
him and feels why she went with him even he was jobless and didn’t respect her.
More than that, audience really hates the character Zoya because she was the
one to make the relationship of Zoya and Adeel. Audience will also love the
character of Sila’s mother because although she played a role of her step
mother, she is so caring and loving. Audience might think how can a step mother
can be so caring and loving because in most of the serials step mothers are
shown as a negative way.
In conclusion, I could say that people will love the serial and its
characters especially Sila and Ahmer acting are so good to watch. Even the role
of Sila’s mother is good to watch. So, I could rate this serial 4/5.
