EHD-E-WAFA
Ehd-e-Wafa television series created by Inter-Services
Public Relations (ISPR) and Momina Duraid under MD Productions for Hum
TV and PTV Home. It revolves around four school friends with different
hopes, goals and aspirations and how their lives change over time as they witness
hardships, challenges and betrayal in their friendship and career. It stars Ahad Raza Mir, Alizeh Shah, Osman Khalid Butt, Ahmed Ali Akbar, Zara Noor Abbas and Wahaj Ali in lead roles.
The
story opens with blissful moments among four best friends from different social
backgrounds, Saad, Shariq, Shahzain, and Shehryar, studying together in
Lawrence College, Muree. Later, some misunderstandings arise among four of them
as the story moves forward, making their separate ways in life in the major
departments of the country. Saad joins Pakistan Army, following the footprints
of his father, Brigadier Faraz, who was a treat to watch, from the renowned 90s
show, Alpha Bravo Charlie.
For instance, Shazain having the family background of feudal lords gets elected for the sear of MNA. Sheharyar with poor family support burns the midnight oil, ending up as Assistant Commissioner. While Shariq becomese a highly paid anchor person in Pakistani media after facing a hard time. Hence, it turns into four four different life stories, their real-time struggles along the way and how they end up becoming one whole, to serve their country and nation.
All
the actors gave exceptional performances. Ahad Raza Mir ( Saad),
Ahmed Ali (Sheharyar),Wahaj Ali (Shariq) and Osman Khalid Butt (Malik Shazain) were equally great in justifying their roles as true
friends with different personalities. From time to time, they were putting
extra efforts to please their audiences, and it became very hard to opt for one
is the best or the other.
Later comes the supoorting actor in his debut Adnan Samad Khan as Gulzaar, who overtakes the rest. His absolute comic timings, his typical Saraikin accent, and natural expressions throughout till the very end of the drama, highly appreciated by the viewers as well.. Another trouper, Faraz Inam, won the hearts of people once again as Brigadier Faraz after being enormously loved as Captain Faraz in Alpha Bravo Charlie, show in the nineties.
Among the female actors, Zara Noor Abbas as Rani, being the most
versatile one, has highlighted her acting skills and fine expressions.
Certainly, she came as comic relief in harsh moments going on side by side.
Vaneeza Ahmed suited best in her character of Saad’s mother, reminding us of
her graceful and elegant acting back in the nineties. While Alizey Shah a Dua scould not
fully justify her lead role in the drama until the last scenes. At the end, she
enacted way better than her performance in the earlier episodes. Others include
Hajira Yamin as Ramsha and Momina Iqbal as Masooma also played well. Therefore,
apart from the great storyline, the compelling performances of the actors made
this drama a great success.
The play also brilliantly
portrays the realistic picture of traumas through which the families of Army
officers and soldiers go through. Our Mothers sacrifice their best sons and yet
we so conveniently criticize them without even realizing that they have
sacrificed themselves for our secured future. It has given us all an inkling
that the pain these army officer and Jawan’s families go through when they
embrace Shahadats or when they get critically injured. It is so painful to see
some people expressing ingratitude and how they even stoops so low to criticize
or ridicule the sacrifices Pakistan Army makes.
Apart from patriotism, the
play also celebrates the beauty of friendship. No matter what thick and thin
the relationship go through, true friends always remain at one’s side. They
never abandon each other. Similarly, like these four friends, as the drama portrayed,
the four pillars of state are not separable and they always need each other’s
support all the time.
