NOT SO DARK

Last time, I brought the book named “DARKSIDE” by “JON SHRESTHA”.

The story is about Henry. He has everything he desires and then suddenly his world starts to crumble around him as he struggles to find the truth.

The seemingly adopted son of rich and powerful father, Henry Still son is the sole heir to a billion dollar fortune but the problem is he doesn’t want to inherit the property.

He leaves his billionaire lifestyle and comes to mystic land of Nepal to find his destiny. He finds love, friendship and success in Nepal but a chain of events catapult him into a web conspiracy which threatens to destroy everything he holds dear to him. Soon he is to discover that he has made an enemy who is the master of manipulation.

Although Jon Shrestha attempts to write the mystery and suspense novel but the novel is not so mystery and suspense.  While reading the book, the reader won’t feel bore to read the book, but it’s not the kind of the book to read.

This type of story is seen in the Hindi movies. There is nothing in the book. While reading the book, the reader knows what will happen next, who did it and why was it done.

Besides the relationship between son and father is not so new one. There is nothing new in it. Son hated his father because George kills Henry’s parents in the accident. For this, Henry never forgives George. 

Secondly, George dies. Henry doesn’t know about it. Later, George’s lawyer calls Henry and tells about his father’s death. But the most interesting part is that when Henry is in trouble, his father dies. Moreover, he knows the truth about his parents.  For this, he feels guilty. Next thing, the person to whom he trusts betrays him. After been betrayed from the relationship, he never believes in the relationship.

Relationship with the father, relationship with the friends and girlfriend is seen and heard before. Besides after Henry gets success, somebody tries to destroy which is common or seen before. This type of story is seen before which might not be interested to many people.

Overall if I see the book, the story is not so new. Although there is no suspense and mystery as it is said so but the good point is that the writer holds the reader. The presentation is good and the language is simple and not so complex.

The title of the book “DARKSIDE” goes to the main character Henry because he has the dark side in his life. Due to his dark side, he feels insecure and doesn’t want to remember it.

Besides, Jon Shrestha has attempt something new but he should do more new and which more interest the reader.
