WHAT A LOVE STORY

Daniel was a young, handsome man of 27 and was decorous while Aasuyana was 24 with big blue eyes, a shy smile with dimpled cheeks. It was like fortuitous when they met time and again and they had been working in the same office which was also a coincidence. There had been a very harmonious relationship between them and most of their colleagues thought they were good friends. They all had been wrong. They had some feelings for each other which were never revealed.

Daniel came to pick her. She was looking fabulous and he was proud of her." You are looking beautiful," he said in low tones.

"Thank you," she said in a shy voice and with a beautiful smile. He had always liked her smile, shy smile, her voice, her entire being. He took her to the best restaurant.

"So have u any plans for tomorrow?'' She asked.
"Nothing special. I am going to visit my doctor. You know I always have serve headaches. Something is wrong. I know it. What about you?"

"No plans at all,'' she answered quickly. They remained silent then. Their eyes met frequently but the shyness in her drew in her eyes back. But again laughter could be heard, they talked to each other.

It was almost about 11 o' clock when they were walking by the beach. The moon was bright and a cool wind was blowing. They kept on watching the calm waves. It seemed that their heart was engaged from the beginning but something was keeping them apart from declaring their love – fear to lose their lover. They never unfolded their feelings that they felt for each other. They were happy being together.

Daniel became shadow when he heard from the doctor that he had blood cancer. All at a time, thousands of questions floated in his mind. His life-her life, love, marriage, house, dreams- many things. He had dreamed of a beautiful life, he had imagined the day- Aasuyana in his arms. His dreams….what a contrast of his dreams.

She was unknown from the hidden truth and he dared not to speak a word as he knew she was frails. He had told her that it was only a simple disease and she believed him. He felt as if his life was deformed. As the days passed he was always unkept and became indolent. His interest for the world faded. But from his heart he knew he loved Aasuyana, he was still interested in her. And she never suspected that something was wrong. She was with him must of the time. She was always helping him, giving him medicine still unaware that her life was in connection with his. Her life was bound upon his love and his life. Sometimes when he felt better they went for a walk talking about life and love. They wanted something from each other – love which they had but that was not revealed. They wanted a life together. But everything was going to be wrong.

Aasuyana could feel that her heart was beating fast when a news came to her that Daniel was taken to the hospital all of sudden. Just yesterday she had a long talk and laughters with his. She felt a sudden thrill. Had he been lying to me? Thinking this, she hurriedly made her way to the hospital.

She saw him in a bed. His face white and cold. This was the person she had loved throughout her life. The legs were trembling. She went near to him- sat beside him. He opened his eyes. It burnt and burnt his heart to see her.

"You lied to me, why? Am I no………."
"I love you Aasuyana'', he said in a calm voice. It broke her heart into pieces. She knew he meant it but………

"Don't love me and I hate you."
"I love you more than anything." There were tears in his eyes when he told this and there was a heavy weight in her heart when she heard this sentence once again. This was the sentence she had wanted to hear from him, throughout her life but now this sentence tortured her, it gave no happiness to her.

"I hate you so much………"
"How much?" This question strokes her heart. She couldn't control herself and took his hands.

"Don't go-----please. Stay for me."
"Our love isn't ephemeral is ti?"He asked her in a trembling voice.
"No, our love isn't ephemeral. I will love you whole life." Tears were running down her cheeks. She took him in her arms. For the first time they felt they were together. She didn't want to lose him and he didn't want to go away from her. She could feel the cold body against her and she knew she was going to lose him. She started crying form the depths of her heart and the tears ran down her cheeks from the depths of her eyes. She wanted a life with him but it was agony for her to see him dying. He looked so pathetic that she couldn't look in his eyes.

"You never told me that you loved. Why?" She asked.
"I was afraid to lose you." He was whispering.
"Oh, God! I don't want to have lonesome life."
"My memories will be with you or will it fade?"

She didn't answer and knew she didn't have to. They remained silent locked on each others arm----------for the first time. He passed away in her arms and it was agony for her. Now, she had a life without him but could she live without him? He was buried in an open space in the moors. She went everyday to the graveyard and shaded tears.

On the memory of Daniel Pete
who died on 2001 AD 10th Aug

She really couldn't live without him. His memories haunted her. His shadow followed her. Memories were still fresh but her life became worse. As the days passed, her body became weak. She was not interested in anything, spent the time alone thinking just about that person. Her dreams-he took away with him. Her love had died and was buried and she knew she was also going to die since she couldn't live without him.

On 2002 AD March 15, she was found dead and buried next to Daniel as her request. They became together-a single soul after the death too, but this time never to be departed.
