VISHAL'S STORY III

Baaton Ko Teri Hum Bhula Na Sake
Hoke Judaa Hum, Na Judaa Ho Sake
Dil Mein Hai Zindaa, Har Ghadi Tu Kahin
Hoke Judaa Hum, Na Judaa Ho Sake

Vishal was lying on the sofa with red wine. He was listening to this sad song from the movie ‘All is Well,’ and was lost in the memories of Sonakshi. It was almost six months, he was in his room. He didn’t prefer coming out of his home. Most of his family preferred him to go out and refresh but he was the one who wasn’t listening to them. He was not coming out of his past.

While he was listening to the song, Sophie gave entry to his room. He was lost in his world. He wasn’t distracted by the entry of Sophie. Meanwhile, Sophie went near to the table and looked at the pad. She, then, paused the song. Then, he was distracted. He looked around and saw Sophie. When he saw Sophie, he said, “Why you stop playing the song? And when did you arrive?”

“Ten minutes ago. You were lost in your world. By the way, when did you start listening to sad songs? You used to listen to happy songs.”

He remained silent. She, on the other hand, observed him. She knew the reason behind the sad song but as a good friend, she wants him to be happy. She wanted him to move ahead. She wanted him to forget the past and live in the present.

He was still silent. He had no words to express his feelings. Sophie was observing him.  She, then, went near to him. She said, “Look at yourself. What have you done for yourself? You haven’t shaved your beard. Why are you punishing yourself? Forget your past and live your present. It’s easy to say to forget those past memories but you have to. You have to try. Come out from your past. If you don’t try, you will be destroying your life.”

“Sonakshi destroyed my life. She betrayed me. It was difficult for me to convince my mother to get married with Sonakshi. More than that, I loved her so much. I loved her more than anything else. But what did she do with me? She left me for Canada.”  He wept. Sophie knew about his thoughts and understood his feelings.

After listening to Vishal, she said, “It’s neither your fault nor hers. Everyone seeks an opportunity. Even you were seeking an opportunity in Nepal and returned back to Nepal and returned back to Nepal. It’s easy to blame others. Besides that, she had never treated you badly and your family. It’s all about time. Don’t be negative. Be positive.”

The environment was silent. He completed his glass of wine. He didn’t prefer looking at the eyes of Sophie. Sophie still would see tears in his eyes. Her words weren’t digested by Vishal.

Every day, Sophie visited Vishal to console and gave him direction. She wanted him to go out of the depression. But he was the one who wasn’t listening. Sophie, on the other hand, was waiting for the right time. She was passionate and she was sure that he will come from the room and depression.

After two months, something really happened. Something happened to Vishal. It was evening time. The time showed around 6:30 pm. He came out from the balcony. The balcony was near to his room. He looked at the sunset. He looked around. He looked at the birds flying in the sky. Birds were flying as if they weren’t having problems. He felt different.

The next day, he again, he came in the balcony. He observed the environment. He looked at the birds. They were flying. After they flew, they came back to the nestle. Baby birds were cared for by the mother. Although they cannot speak like human beings, they have different ways of expressing problems. They too have problems but they enjoy their life. They tackle their problems. Vishal felt like why isn’t he able to tackle his problem like the birds are doing. He felt like his life was purposeless before. He has to find a point in his life now. Every life has meaning. Like birds find meaning in their life, why he cannot?

Every day, he started looking at the birds and used to get a different perceptive of life. Moreover, Sophie had gifted him different books which were about life. The books were ‘The Monk Who Sold His Ferrari,’ ‘Who Will Cry When You Die,’ ‘Discover Your Destiny,’ of Robin Sharma and more.  She gave those books so that he can come out from the depressed life and forget those sad memories. He started reading those books.

With the help of those books and Sophie, he started getting knowing the meaning of life. He started knowing that he should live his life with the fullest. Furthermore, he started to smile and started to live his life in a positive way.

With the time elapsing, he came out of the home. When he came out of his home, his neighbors and relatives started bitching about him. Most of the neighbors looked at him as if he had done a crime had come out of jail. Although he knew that they were bitching about him, he didn’t bother about those people. He continued to go ahead. He travelled to his favourite Basantapur. He looked around. After a long period of time, he felt peace and happiness. He was lost in this place and the photos of the place. He was passionate about photography and he used to love it. But after separated from Sonakshi, he stopped clicking photos.

The next day, it was Friday. He used to love Friday before. On this day, he got up at 7:30 am from the bed. He made a cup of milk tea for himself. After drinking a cup of tea, he cleaned his room. He then took a shower and shaved his beard. He looked different when he had shaved his beard. He looked more handsome than with the heard. He, then, had his lunch. After finishing his lunch, he prepared himself to go out. He carried his camera and travelled in different places of Kathmandu.

He started to fulfill his dreams. His dream was to make documentary movies. He started writing and planning about the documentary. He felt happy. More than him, Sophie was happy for him.

After one month….
Sophie and Vishal met at Bakery Café, New Baneshwor. They were waiting for their order. Meanwhile, Sophie, “So, what are you doing these days?”

“Fulfilling my dreams?”

“And how is your documentary movies going on? “

“I am making two documentary movies. I am hoping to show in Film Festivals.”

“Good to know that.”

“How about your life?”

“Going on. As usual.”

Meanwhile, their food came. They started having their food. While having their food, Sophie focused on Vishal. She wanted to express her feelings but felt that this was not the right time. This day passed.

Slowly and steadily, time was moving. He focused on his documentary. After the hard work, his one of the documentaries was selected at the film festival. His documentary was not only selected, but his documentary also got the award.

After he got an award, he directly went to meet Sophie.

"Hey, Congratulations, Vishal." They both hugged each other.

"Today, I want to say something," said Vishal.

"Say."

"Thank You, Sophie, for everything."

The environment was silent. Sophie wanted Vishal to express his feelings towards her. She wanted to hear those magical words.

"If you weren't in my life, I couldn't have come out from depression. I wouldn’t have come out from the depression. If you haven't encouraged me, I would have been still in the depression. I wouldn't have known the meaning of life. Your words and encouragement showed the paths of glory. If you weren't in my life, I would have been lost in my life.  Thank you for everything."

The environment was again mute. Sophie wanted to share what's in her heart but felt like she would lose her good friend. Breaking the silence, Vishal said, "Will you marry me?"

She was puzzled and paused. She felt excited but didn't let him know the excitement. Then, she said, "Why me?"

"Because you are my best friend. The best friend can be a good wife but a good wife cannot be the best friend. Moreover, you were with me wherever I needed. No one can understand me better than you. I need a friend like you who can understand me. "

She said yes to him and they both got married.

Vishal now understood that no one is wrong in their place. It's the way or perspective on how people see the matter. Sonakshi was right in her place and Vishal was right in his place. If Vishal was in the place of Sonakshi, he might have done the same thing. At that time, he felt wrong about Sonakshi. But now, he feels that she was right in her own place. He also realized that it's easy to blame others and not to see own mistakes. He blamed Sonakshi for not understanding him but he didn't understand Sonakshi. Everyone is not the same. Now, he doesn't blame anyone for his depression and divorce. It just happened. It was his destiny and he plans to move on with his life and Sophie with love and understanding.
