ROLE OF GOVERNMENT, TEACHERS AND PARENTS IN EDUC ATION
Lots of student does not succeed to pass the School
Leaving Certificate [SLC]. Each year, instead of increasing in the
percentage, the percentage has been decreased. Have we ever noticed why
students do not succeed the exam and why there is no increase in the
numbers?
There are numbers of matters to be noticed and to apply
in the practical way:-
1. GOVERNMENT’S ROLE
Government is the main factor for the
failure for not improving the educational sector. It has failed to increase the
literacy rate. More than that, government has education budget which is not
implemented and not utilized.
Furthermore, students do not get their books as new session starts. This
is the reason why students fail in the SLC. Janak Education Material Centre had
failed to dispatch the book especially outside the Kathmandu Valley.
Not only this, the government is busy
doing shutdowns and bandhs which affect the educational system. They don’t seem
serious about the importance of education and future of the children. They
don’t seem serious about the importance of education and future of the children
that’s why there is bandha and obstacles in the educational system. In
education system, nowadays, politics have been most important.
Furthermore, another role which
government isn’t serious is loadshedding. Nepal has been facing the problem of
loadshedding for many years but it is not yet solved. We have been hearing
about Melachi Hydropower since childhood but still it is not made. Nepal is
rich in water resources but it is not utilized. Due to loadshedding, students
are not able to prepare their exams.
I feel that why government isn’t
serious in educational sector. This year government has allocated Rs. 819.46
billion for the fiscal year 2072/73. They can use for the infrastructures in
the remote areas. They can build schools where there are no schools. They can
not only course books but also extra books to the schools and computers.
Not only this, they should provide
more resources like electricity and teacher’s training. Saying that they are
providing hydro power doesn’t mean anything but they should really bring hydro
power. They have a budget which can be utilized.
We still lack teacher’s training.
Government should provide such a training that teacher’s should only teach the
students theory but practical. They should know how to provide training to
teachers and what are the criteria for it.
2 2. TEACHING METHODS
Teaching method is one of the
important parts for both the teachers and students. Teaching students is not
that much easy as it is but until teachers teach the students in a good way,
they won’t be good teachers. Until the teachers understand the psychology of
student, s/he won’t be able to teach the students.
Most of the teachers, in the context
of Nepal, do only teach what is written in the book. Not only this, there is
less theory rather than practical. Every student can read the texts of books
and understand the texts but they should be taught o tog circumstances. Not
only that, while teaching the text, they should use fun elements. For e.g. If
the teachers are teaching the tenses [past, present and future tenses], they
can print out short stories from internet or do some pages photocopies of any
novels and tell them to read the given pages. Tell them to find out which
tenses are used in the stories. More than that, they can find out the linking
words. If stories are given, students enjoy it and give interest towards it.
In additional to this, teachers allow
them to read the texts, so that they can learn the pronunciation and symbols.
Teachers too should read the texts so that students can have the power of
listening and learn how to pronounce. Not only this, if teachers allow having
the discussion in the class, they can learn to speak and learn the importance of
group and team. Furthermore, the
teachers can use chart papers, CDs for the teaching practice.
Moreover, the teachers should be open
and friendly so that students can share their problems with the teachers. In
additional to this, teachers should encourage weak students and motivate them
to learn more. Tell the students do mistakes so that they can learn from
mistakes. So, the teaching methods should be changed.
3 3. GUARDIAN’S ROLE
Guardian’s role is another important
role for the development of children’s education. But the context of Nepal,
after admitting in the schools, they feel that the role of them is completed.
They completely depend on the teachers. The few guardians do discuss what their
children did in the schools and look after their children but what about the
remaining guardians?
Not only this, there is communication
role in between parents and their children. They often do not give time to
their children which occurs lots of problems later and children do take the
advantages of it or feel depress on it. So, the guardians need to give time to
the children and need to communicate with their children. They need to discuss
if they have a problem, they can give an idea to their children. More than
that, they need to provide extra books to the children so that they can learn
new words and extra books increase their imaginative power.
CONCLUSION
If we see the literacy rate of 2011,
the literacy rate was 67.9%. The male literacy was 75.1% and the female was
57.4%. More than that, the government has increased budget in education sector
for the fiscal year 2072/73 by Rs. 20 billion to Rs.98.64 billion. The
government should increase the literacy rate. As every year, the government allocates
the education budget but it is not used in the proper way. By separating budget
is not enough. The government must utilize the budget by providing the education
all over the district. They should provide build school with the high quality,
enough resources and train the teachers. Furthermore, they shouldn’t mi
politics in thee education and stop strikes and shutdowns. They should provide 365
days electricity and not only this; they should distribute books in every school.
It’s not the responsibility of
government to provide proper and good education. More than that, it’s not only
the government role for the quality education but its role of teachers and
parents. They need to create friendly environment and communicate with them. Moreover, teachers should not go beyond the
texts, they need to go beyond the text and explain the reason behind the texts
too. Furthermore, the teachers should encourage and motivate the weaker
students to learn. Teachers should give emphasis to practical knowledge rather
than theory knowledge.
On the other hand, parents should not
scold their children if they fail the exams or if their children weaker. They
need to encourage and motivate them. They need to show the importance of
education. They should know at what point they are weaker and stronger and sort
out the weaker part and encourage in stronger one.
You write straight from your heart with a very good flow..But in most of your writings i have noticed some grammatical errors. For example:"Lots of student does not succeed to pass the School Leaving Certificate [SLC]" should have been "Lots of students do not suceed in passing the School Leaving Certificate (SLC). and "instead of increasing in the percentage" should have been "instead of increase in the percentage" etc. Your literature is too good, of course as always :)
ReplyDeleteThank u for the comment. I know I have a grammar problem. I most of the time get confused with the grammars.
