VISHAL'S STORY II

I

It was difficult to convince Vishal’s parents for the marriage with Sonakshi. Rather than his rather, it was difficult to convince his mother with angrily. One day, his mother said, “At the beginning, you both rejected each other. Now, she is a divorcee. What’s wrong with you? You will get a better girl. Sonakshi is not the right girl for you.”

“But Sonakshi is the better girl for me.  No one will be fit for me beside her. I will marry Sonakshi, only her. I will not anyone else."

He left the dining table without finishing his food. He entered his room with a sad face. He was on the bed and logged in the Facebook. He, then, opens the message and sends the message to Sonakshi. Although Sonakshi wasn't online, he sends her message, ''Hi. How are you doing?" And he kept the phone at the nearby table and lied on the bed. He wouldn't sleep. He was concentrated on the message of Sonakshi. There was no response from her. It was the sleepless night for him.

It has been almost two weeks; there was no conversation between Vishal's mother and Vishal. Vishal's mother wanted to have a conversation with him but he was not in a mood to have a conversation. He was upset that his mother was not able to understand his feelings whereas his mother wanted him to settle with a better person. She thought for the reputation of the family.

After two weeks, Vishal with his family were having dinner. The environment was silent. Vishal was having his food whereas his mother was focused on his face. She knew that Vishal was not happy with her decision. Finally, she said, “Vishal, if it's your decision to get married to Sonakshi, then, I am ready to accept the relationship. If you are happy with her, then, I will have to be happy with your happiness."

He was happy and said, "Thanks, Mom. I know Mom that for my sake you said those words. I also know that you are not happy because I love a girl who is a divorcee. But if I was a divorcee, wouldn't you say me to get married again and start a new life. If she was your daughter, what would you have done? Mom, it’s all about our thinking way. But I am sure that the way she will treat you, will change your mind."

Again, there was pin drop silence. She was speechless. She couldn't utter a word and was concentrating on Vishal. Tears were in her eyes which were unnoticed. On the other hand, Vishal's father was convinced with Vishal and was positive towards Sonakshi.

"Everyone is ready or not," said Vicky's mother.

"Yes, auntie," said Arya-one of the closest cousins of Vishal.

"And Vishal? Is he ready?" Vishal's mother said and rushed to the room of Vishal. She knocked on the door.

"Come in," Vishal said. She entered the room. He was making his topi. He was looking in the mirror.

"The time for marriage is almost near. Please, hurry up." Vishal's mother said.

"I am ready," Vishal said.

Meanwhile, Sophie arrived in the room. Sophie was a best friend of Vishal since her childhood. They shared everything. They know each other well. Furthermore, Sophie didn't consider him a good friend but fell for him. She didn't express her feelings as she knew that he considered her as a good friend. But she was happy for him.

"Let's go. We are getting late."

Everyone rushed and reached Anupam Party Palace, Old Baneswor. The day was fine. Although the season was winter, the day was sunny. Vishal with his family reached at 10:00 am and the marriage time was at 10:30 am. He was kept at the room for a while. The bridegroom came at 10:25 am and both were at Mandap later. They both were happy. Slowly and steady, people started gathering at the venue. The function took around 5:30 hours. Although Sonakshi didn't like the long process, for the sake of Vishal she didn't prefer complaining.

The marriage function process completed at 3:30 pm. After completing the function, all of the relatives reached Vishal's home.

After six months.....

"Please don't cry. I will be back after completing my Ph.D. Otherwise; I will call you in Canada. Don't worry about me. Please, take care of yourself," Vishal said.

"We were newly married and you are leaving. We couldn't spend quality time." She made her face. There were tears in her eyes.

Vishal with his family was at Tribhuwan International Airport [TIA]. The time showed 9:30 pm. The flight time was 11:30 pm. He, then, went for the security check.  He waved his hand. His family too waved their hands. He was emotional as he had to leave Sonakshi, a love of his life. Although he didn't want to leave Sonakshi, he got a scholarship for Ph.D. in Monitoring and Evaluation [M and E].

After completing all the process at the airport, he boarded at the plane. He was in a plane, he looked outside. He was lost in the memories of Sonakshi. After 24 hours of travel, he reached Canada.

When he was in Canada, he was like he wanted to go back to Nepal. He felt homesick. He felt like he had gone to the depression. He started thinking that if he was in Nepal, he shouldn’t have done any kinds of stuff. But in Canada, he had to do kinds of stuff by himself. But somehow he had to adjust his life in Canada until he completes his Ph.D.

Sonakshi and Vishal were in touch every day. Vishal insisted Sonakshi to apply for Canada because she was interested in the field of English Literature.  Although she wasn't interested in applying for Canada, for the sake of Vishal, she started applying. The reason she wasn't interested in Canada was that she had a nice job as well as she had families and friends. But they were separated for one year so she wanted to meet him and hug him. Therefore, she applied to Canada.

The time showed 11:30 am. He was waiting for Sonakshi at the airport. He was focused on his clock. He was in a hurry as well as excited. The airplane was supposed to land at the time of 11:30 am. He was looking at the information board but the plane didn't land at the time. But after one hour, the plane landed. After 1:00 pm, he saw Sonakshi. She, on the other hand, was looking here and there. He was waving at her and finally, she saw Vishal. Both went near to each other and hugged. They were excited to see each other.

After a while, Vishal said, "I am happy so happy to see you. After seeing you, my tiredness went off.  It's good to see you. I missed you a lot. Vishal, let's go home."

He nodded and he called for a cab. After half an hour, they reached the apartment.

"Welcome home."

"Seems nice place."

"Will you have something or will you take a rest?"

"Will have food before I take a rest."

"Sure."

They both sat on a dining table. He made Sonakshi's favourite dishes. He made cauli, goat meat, tomato's pickle with kalo dal.  She was so happy to see her favourite food.

"Wow, my favourite food." She was more happy to see that food.

Sonakshi joined the University. Moreover, she started working at the University as Teaching Assistant [TA]. They were both happy as they were together but they didn't know that their life was supposed to be changed.

After two years...........

Vishal completed his Ph.D. He was excited. He was sure that he shall be going back to Nepal, his motherland where he grew up and brought up. After he defended his thesis, he wanted to share his wife about returning to Nepal.  He knew that his wife could be more excited than him to return home. He was waiting for her. He wanted her to return apartment as soon as possible. Finally, around 6:30 pm, the doorbell rang. He got up from the sofa and he opens the door.

"Hey," Sonakshi said.

And they both hugged each other. He closed the door whereas Sonakshi went for the change. After she came down, they were at the dining table.  When they both were having food, Vishal said, "Hey, I have good news for you. You will be happy as well as excited."

"What's that?"

"I am planning to return back Nepal. You will be also going to Nepal with me forever."

"What?" She was shocked as well as surprise.

"Aren't you happy? Why are so shocked?"

The environment was silent. They both were looking at each other. He was curious about the response.  He was surprised why she was shocked. She seemed unhappy.

"Look, Vishal. I know that you wanted to go back to Nepal but this is not the right time," said Sonakshi.

"Yes, I want to go back to Nepal and I thought you too wanted to go back to Nepal because you never wanted to settle abroad."

"Yes, it was true. But it was until I didn't come here.  According to time, people’s perspective changes. I had never thought that I could settle in Canada or any other countries. Although I had an opportunity in Nepal, in Canada I had better. I got promotion and earned better than before. You too will get a better job as you have completed Ph.D."

"What's wrong with you?"

"Nothing is wrong with me."

"Then, let's go back to Nepal."

"No. Why are you so interested to go if you have an opportunity here?"

"We will get a better job in Nepal too."

"I am not interested."

She was upset and went into the room without finishing her food. On the other hand, Vishal was speechless. He didn't get Sonakshi. For a while, he thought that Sonakshi wasn't the same person he had loved. Is she the same person that he had loved? He was lost in the world of his. The whole night, they weren't speaking with each other.

Their arguments continued for almost three months. He was trying to convince her but every time he failed. He couldn't convince her. He literally wanted to go back and work in Nepal. Finally, he gave up and they got separated. He returned back to Nepal. All his family knew about it. They console him. Some people said why he left Canada inside of returning back to Nepal. There were opportunities in Canada. His mother was despondent and couldn't say anything to him as well as others. Vishal too fell despondent all the time. He promised himself that he shall never marry again.
